- Dometic is known for integrating comfort and convenience in hospitality environments. Can you share a recent product or feature developed specifically based on direct hotel or guest feedback, and how that feedback directly shaped the final result?
At Dometic, we design with hospitality professionals in mind. Our HiPro minibar line includes a sliding hinge system that simplifies installation and alignment, saving time for hotel operators and installers. Another standout feature is the ability to reposition shelves with the door open just 90°, making restocking easier in compact spaces. These innovations reflect our commitment to functional design and operational efficiency, helping hotels deliver seamless guest experiences while optimizing service routines.
- How does Dometic balance technical performance with aesthetic design to enhance the in-room guest experience without disrupting the hotel’s brand identity?
Design and performance must go hand in hand. Our minibars are crafted using brushed aluminum, tempered glass, and decorative trims that blend into any room style. They are elegant, understated, yet have premium appeal. They blend into a premium room setting, complementing the furniture, and putting highlight on the minibar contents. We offer flexible installation options and subtle LED lighting to showcase contents attractively. These design choices ensure our products elevate the guest experience while respecting the hotel’s unique brand identity.
- With rising focus on sustainability in hotels, how is Dometic addressing energy efficiency and environmental impact in your hospitality product line?
Sustainability is a cornerstone of our product development. Our compressor minibars have been recognized by ENERGY STAR® as Most Efficient for multiple years. Meanwhile, our absorption models comply with the latest EU Ecodesign and Energy Labeling regulations and are free from harmful substances like hexavalent chromium. We’ve invested heavily in R&D to ensure our products meet the highest environmental standards while maintaining silent operation and long lifecycle performance. This dedication was recently honoured with the Plus X Award.
- As hotels evolve post-pandemic, what major trends is Dometic prioritising for its next-generation hospitality solutions? Are there particular markets, technologies, or product categories you’re targeting in the next 3–5 years?
While we can’t share specific details at this time, what we can say is that we’ll continue to focus on developing products that deliver the best possible guest experience at the lowest possible cost for hotels while achieving lowest impact to the environment— all of this, while also making sure they comply with all regulatory guidelines. Guest Experience, performance and compliance remains central to our innovation strategy.
- Space is often at a premium in modern hotel rooms. How does Dometic address compact design and functionality in its hospitality product lines?
Space optimisation is essential. Our drawer-style minibars and safes are designed to fit into tight spaces without compromising capacity or performance. Our HiPro minibars, for example, can accommodate 1.5-liter bottles in the door—an uncommon feature in the market. The shelves can be replaced by opening the door just 90 degrees, thanks to the smart positioning of our shelf mounts. Our models also feature outstanding net volume—not just based on the labeled liter class, but in actual usable space. Additionally, our controls are placed in an accessible location at the front inside the unit, making adjustments easy for hotel staff. And the doors are reversible, offering flexibility during installation. We believe that great design should deliver maximum value in minimal space—without sacrificing comfort or convenience.
