There is a particular quality that distinguishes an exceptional private environment from a merely excellent one. It is difficult to name, easier to feel. A space that seems to know you are in it. That responds to time of day, to occasion, to mood. That leaves an impression guests cannot quite account for, but do not forget.

That quality is atmosphere. And atmosphere, at its most refined, is deliberate.

Viveur is a fragrance architecture practice working exclusively at the top of the private and luxury market. We create bespoke olfactory environments for superyachts and private residences, treating scent not as a decorative accessory but as a structural element of the interior – as considered and as consequential as lighting or materials.

Our work operates across three integrated disciplines. Fragrance selection and bespoke creation, in which we develop or curate scents that are native to a specific environment rather than imported from a general catalogue. Spatial design, in which fragrance is mapped across zones – receptions, state rooms, lounges – with each area carrying its own atmospheric signature that coheres into a whole. And diffusion technology, in which we engineer and commission systems capable of precise, programmable scent delivery, giving owners and crew genuine control over the olfactory environment across different times, seasons, and occasions.

The result is not a product. It is a privately authored atmosphere – one that can be owned, adjusted, and sustained over time.

Viveur’s work in the superyacht sector includes a design and technology partnership with VBH in Amsterdam, whose innovation director has described the integration of fragrance as the final brushstroke in the orchestration of onboard experience: seamlessly integrated, contextually intelligent, and truly tailored. That framing reflects how we think about every engagement. Fragrance architecture is not decoration. It is the invisible operating layer of a finished environment.

We work on a consultancy basis, typically in close collaboration with the interior designer, project manager, or owner’s representative. Engagements begin with a discovery process – understanding the vessel, its use, its owner, and the atmosphere they want to inhabit – and proceed through selection, spatial mapping, installation, and ongoing curation as required.
